Dartmoor Tor

There are so many incredible vistas on Dartmoor, and these are most dramatic during unsettled weather. If you have been on any moorland when the mists set in and the rain seems to fall sideways, you’ll identify with this piece.

In this mixed media work I have tried to capture the muted colour palette to be witnessed on a bleak day and have also attempted to illustrate the less-than-favourable weather conditions using smudges and drops of acrylic paint infused water. The piece started as a paper collage, using vintage ripped Dartmoor ephemera and literature to construct the landscape. It was then photographed and printed using water-based ink. I then used this reproduction to augment with droplets and to distress the piece. I did another pass on the piece with acrylic and fins brush and then the piece was photographed again and I incorporated digital enhancements and further smudging and blurring to perfect the drama.

Mounts

Our cream core mounts and backing boards are manufactured by an independent company in the South West of England. Each board is pH neutral and meets the Fine Art Guild’s approval for standard mount board. Your print will be secured to the mount using Kraft paper tape with the mount then being attached to the backing board.

Frames

We use Neilsen frames in our gallery and for all of the framed prints available in our online store. Neilsen produces premium aluminium frames, expertly crafted in Germany. The frames we offer are all glazed and are available in A4, A3 and A2 sizes in either frosted black or gloss white.
